XL Recordings (Research)


- XL Recordings is a British independent record label that is based in London as well as having an international headquarters in New York City. The label was founded in 1989 by Tim Palmer and Nick Halkes and was co-owned by Richard Russell since 1996.

- It has formed parts with their parent company “The Beggars Group”

- With only releasing an average of about 6 albums a year, XL Recordings has done work with notable artists such as Adele, Dizzee Rascal, King Krule and Gil Scott Heron.

- On their website, they follow a simplistic layout which allows the user to scroll and explore the website and the news on different artists and their recent album releases, this helps target a range of different audiences where they can explore the artists and the different types of music they specialise in, meaning that the label have a variety of niche target audiences.

- Their navigation bar on their website is quite limited with only three options to choose from, however it gives the users more of a chance to explore the website, such as the stream button on the navigation bar allows the user to listen into podcasts from people that have worked with XL Recordings
